Alex Wright

Brooklyning

June 2, 2006

I'll be spending the next few days in Brooklyn, house- and dog-sitting for Ed and Lisa. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with the old 'hood (I lived here from 1997-99, before moving to San Francisco), catching up with a few old friends, and scarfing up a bagel or two.

Last night I took in a free bluegrass concert with mandolin wunderkind Ricky Skaggs and a fantastic klezmer-meets-bluegrass combo led by Andy Statman. Next week I'm hoping to catch Vernon Reid and Liquid Soul at the Canal Room. I'm also planning to take in the Tantric Siddhas exhibit at the Rubin, peek in a few galleries, and maybe brave the crowds at the new MoMa.

Otherwise, I expect to spend most of my time laying low, reading, writing, and hanging with Frisket.
